I’ll be honest, AI is changing the way we work faster than most of us expected. Tools like Cursor AI and Copilot are already generating test cases, writing code snippets, and helping teams speed up delivery. But here’s the thing: AI doesn’t test itself. It still needs us QA professionals to manage, validate, and make sure what it produces is actually trustworthy.

This is something I spoke about just last night in a presentation where I discussed the QA shift and how we need to redefine what QA really is in the age of AI. QA is no longer just about checking functionality—it’s about ensuring reliability, fairness, and quality in AI-driven systems.

That’s why I want to put something on your radar: the ISTQB Certified Tester – AI Testing (CT-AI) certification.

Why This Cert Stands Out

This isn’t just another checkbox cert. It dives into the stuff we’re already starting to see in our day-to-day. But before you get too excited—there’s a catch. You must have the ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL) cert first. No skipping ahead. The foundation is a must before you’re allowed to sit for the AI exam.

Why It Matters Right Now

Let’s be real. The QA job market is tough. Companies want more skills, more adaptability, and more proof that you can handle where the industry is headed.

That’s where this cert could make a big difference. It’s not just about passing an exam, it’s about being able to say:

  • I know how to test AI and ML systems.

  • I can help prevent the hidden risks that come with automation.

  • I’m not stuck in “just manual QA”—I’m growing with the industry.

In other words, it provides you with a powerful tool to market yourself in interviews and on LinkedIn. It’s a signal that you’re not waiting for the future of QA to arrive, you’re already preparing for it.
